INFIDELITY : CHEATING IN THE GAME – THE TALE OF TWO SPORTS BY LARRY D. MILLER

For decades we have cheered and jeered them. Professional athletes our hero’s; some of us treat them like Gods or family members, we are emotionally tied to them.
Maybe it’s because these select specimens have the ability to do and live the life many fans would give just about anything to to to do.
But as it is they are mere human beings vulnerable to the exploitations and temptations that all of us are. Weakness is a human trait yet most fans find it intolerable especially when it comes to cheating.
Yes cheating in sports, it happens and fans can be unforgiving of this act.
Performance enhancing drugs have been such a blight on today’s game and it’s athletes.
It’s cheating and many athletes have fallen to the temptation to do them. But there is another form of cheating that is running rampant throughout the sports world and Infidelity is it’s name.
To be blunt CHEATING.
You’ve seen the headlines and read the stories on television and social media.
Athletes cheating on their wives, girlfriends and boyfriends.
We shouldn’t be shocked by these allegations; as it is my personal belief that people in positions of power and money most likely will cheat. Why? Well that’s another story, but I will say that  it just goes hand in hand. In fact it’s encouraged through media advertising and marketing.
Sex sells and many athletes become instant sex symbols.
There are athletes in underwear ,cologne/Perfume and cosmetic ads.
What woman did not see David Beckham on every available billboard laid out in his tight fitting skeevies and what guy has not waited for the release of the Swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated Magazine?
As fans we should be held accountable for enabling this guilty pleasure.
We imagine, fantasize and to some extinct try to sway athletes to cheat.
How many times have you seen female fans flirting with players? You see them passing their information onto them. Even when knowing players are married or in a relationship women will still try to make a play. Players are approached everyday by some adoring fan and not all of them just want to walk away with an autograph. The same can be said of men that chase fantasize of dating female athletes and will stand in a long line at an appearance just for a chance to make eye or maybe I should  say body part contact with their eyes.  I’m not saying that the players should not be held accountable for their actions but what I am saying is that there are two games being played here.
We see it we know it and so do the wives and girlfriends but it’s not until it becomes public that we all shine up and wear our moral badges. Let the outrage begin!
Recently allegations of cheating have been linked to  athletes like Carmelo Anthony, Addison Russell , usain Bolt, Klay Thompson, Paul George and Dwyane Wade and Ashley Cole the list goes on and on. Players have been exposed by team mates posting video’s or groupies posting on their social media pages.
Most women that are married or involved relationship wise with a pro athlete suspect that their partner is cheating. So what plays a role in letting them allow it? Maybe it’s the money, the prestige and all that being with a pro athlete has to bring. Some of them know because it’s how they met. It’s part of the game it’s like those sport enhancement drugs you suspect they might be using but as long as it is not out their publicly or under investigation you are willing to turn a blind eye.
As I said I will never be surprised by hearing that an athlete and their spouse or partner are dealing with issues over his or her cheating.
It is we fans that need a reality check when it comes to our hero’s  and stop putting them on pedestals while we treat them like the Gods they are not.
They may perform unbelievable feats on the courts and the fields but they are only human and prone to make mistakes and bad choices. I’m not condoning it mainly because I don’t give a ,well you know.
Sports have been around for generation after generations and you know what? So has cheating it has always been there. It’s the game within the game. The tale of two sports.
